What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning ‘universal life energy’.  In Japanese it
is represented by two kanji or pictograms: the first, Rei, may be translated as ‘universal,
transcendental spirit, a boundless energy’.  The second. Ki, translates as ‘life force energy’. 
This life force energy can be defined as that energy which resides and acts in all created matter – animal, vegetable or mineral.

How does Reiki work?

Reiki is healing energy in its truest sense.  When the Reiki practitioner channels this life energy
through their hands to the recipient, it activates the body’s natural ability to heal itself. 
The energy goes to the deepest levels of a person’s being, where illnesses have their origin. 
It works wherever the recipient needs it most, releasing blocked energies, cleansing the body
of toxins and working to create a state of balance.  It reinforces the recipients’ ability to take responsibility for their life, and helps them to make the necessary changes in attitude and lifestyle
to promote a happier and healthier life.

When is Reiki needed?

Reiki is a healing system that is a safe, natural and holistic way of treating many acute and
chronic conditions as well as bringing about mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.  These conditions include: sinusitis, menstrual problems, cystitis, migraine, asthma, M.E.
(chronic fatigue syndrome) eczema, arthritis, back pain, muscle tension, anxiety, tension,
depression, insomnia, digestive problems and sciatica.

Who can benefit from Reiki?

Reiki is suitable for everyone, including the very young and the elderly.  It is non-denominational;
you do not even have to believe it will work – it will!  It is also a great tonic, and if you are in
good health Reiki will help you to stay that way.
